FAQs about Dermalase IPL
-
Dermalase is a light-based device that is FDA-approved for the treatment of photodamaged skin, acne, and vascular lesions. It delivers broadband light energy to the skin, which causes the blood vessels beneath the surface of the skin to coagulate and shrink. The IPL energy is delivered through a handheld device that a clinician uses to treat the desired areas on the face or body. The IPL energy targets the chromophores in the skin–melanin, hemoglobin, and water–and creates an intense photothermal response. This response causes collagen production and remodelling to occur, which leads to improvement in the appearance of skin pigmentation, redness, and vascularity.

While a noticeable improvement in skin tone is often seen after your very first session, a series of treatments delivers the most transformative results. At Studio Skinbar, we customize your Lumecca settings based on your skin type, the level of sun damage, and whether we are targeting redness or pigmentation. For optimal results, we typically recommend a regime of six treatments spaced four weeks apart, though individual results will vary based on your unique skin needs
-
While you may feel a brief sensation similar to the quick snap of a rubber band, any discomfort during your Lumecca treatment is minimal and short-lived. Most clients find the process very tolerable, and because there’s no downtime, you can head straight back to your daily routine immediately after leaving the bar.
